MORRISTOWN, Tenn. — The Tennessee Wildlife Resources has promoted Wildlife Officer Shelley Hammonds to the rank of Law Enforcement Major for Region 4 in East Tennessee.

Hammonds will manage and coordinate all law enforcement activities within the region covering 21 counties in East Tennessee, from Loudon to Johnson County.

The TWRA said she began her career in 1997 in Rutherford County before transferring to Cocke County a year later.

“The Boating And Law Enforcement Division is happy to have Shelley leading the Law Enforcement efforts in Region 4. Her knowledge and professionalism will be a great asset to the Agency as we move forward," Lt. Col Cape Taylor said.

Hammonds is also a registered nurse and paramedic, which the TWRA said provides them with a unique skillset. She has served in Region 4 as a Lieutenant since 2014 and was responsible for developing the TWRA Officer Training Academy in Humphreys County.
