Fewer turkeys harvested during Vermont spring hunt

Vermont Fish and Wildlife says hunters harvested 5,349 turkeys during the spring hunt.

Of those, 571 were taken during the April youth weekend hunt.

Officials say the number is low in comparison to other years but just slightly below the average over the past 10 years. They say the cold and wet spring likely contributed to the decline.
