Rutland man charged with attempted manslaughter

A Rutland man is due in court Tuesday after police say he fired a gun at a car with people inside.

It happened Monday around 4:15 p.m. near an apartment complex in Rutland Town. Police say Scott Sweet, 56, fired a gun at a car with two people inside. No one was injured.

Sweet was charged with attempted manslaughter, aggravated assault, aggravated disorderly conduct, reckless endangerment and unlawful mischief.

He's being held in jail on $20,000 bail.
