Montpelier's mayor and City Council members on Tuesday afternoon are expected to speak out about a recent ordinance that would set a wage for workers in the construction industry.

The so-called Responsible Contracting Ordinance was designed to create protections against discrimination, wage theft and misclassification. Officials say it will help professionalize the industry and they hope it will set an example for other cities and towns across our region.

The mayor and council plan to hold a press conference on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at City Hall to discuss the impacts of the measure.
