Truck fire backs up Interstate-89 near Montpelier

Police say a truck fire on Interstate 89 between the Middlesex and Montpelier exits backed up traffic Tuesday afternoon.

It happened shortly after noon near mile marker 54.

One southbound lane was closed while crews worked on the fire. Police say it caused traffic to back up for over a mile.

There was no immediate reports of injuries or what caused the fire.

The roadway has since reopened.
