As part of Governor Wolf’s reopening plan, restaurants will be allowed to reopen their dining rooms in Indiana County today, but there will be some special restrictions are in place.
Restaurants will be allowed to operate with 50 percent occupancy, and there will be additional health and safety measures in place. Some of the rules include six-feet distancing between seats at the bar and between tables; requiring customers to wear masks while going in and travelling around the restaurant, but customers can take the masks off while seated at their table; posting maximum occupancy limits; closing non-essential areas like child play areas, dance floors and the like; and following sanitization procedures among others.
One concern may be the number of people that will actually sit down for lunch or dinner at a restaurant instead of taking out as they have been over the last few months. Larry Miller of Benjamin’s in Indiana feels that people may feel the need to go out after being cooped up in homes for the last few months.
Some restaurant owners, like Louis Tate of Luigi’s in Clymer, said he was eager to see all their friends and customers, and to get back to work.
Over the past few weeks, restaurants had been limited to take-out orders only, and last week, restaurants were permitted to serve people outdoors.
