GRADY CO., Fla. (WCTV)--- A single-vehicle accident occurred north of Tallahassee, killing two according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident happened before 7 a.m. just north of Horseshoe Plantation Road according to FHP. The scene was still active as a tow truck arrived on the scene late Saturday morning, according to Eyewitness News reporter Sophia Hernandez.

FHP says the vehicle was driving north on Thomasville Road in the outside lane, just north of Horseshoe Plantation Road, and traveled off the roadway into the center grassy median. Troopers say the vehicle's right side then hit a tree, cutting the vehicle in half.

Both the passenger and the driver were pronounced dead on the scene by Leon County Emergency Medical Services. The driver has been identified as 18-year-old Sean Landers of Thomasville. The passenger's identity hasn't been released, but FHP says he is a 16-year-old male from Thomasville. Both of their families have been notified.

Those roadways are now back open, but Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating

This is a developing story.
