TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) — The Tallahassee Police Department said it needs the public's help to find the shooter who killed a 34-year-old man during a birthday party at Clippers Barbershop on August 20.

"Numerous witnesses attending the celebration were witness to the homicide and may know the suspect," the department said. "Their cooperation is critical."

Alex Harvey was the victim in the shooting.

The department said just one person with information can make a difference in this case.

Investigators said they're urging anyone who was at the party, or anyone else with information on this case, to call them at 850-891-4200. If you wish to stay anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 850-574-TIPS.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) — The Tallahassee Police Department has released new details involving a shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning in the 1900 block of South Monroe Street.

TPD says investigators have discovered that a party was being held at Clippers Barbershop on South Adams Street when, during the party, a verbal altercation ensued between some of the attendees but had ended prior to the victim's arrival.

Officials say while people were gathered outside of the business, gunfire caused havoc and sent people fleeing for safety.

Authorities say an adult and a small 5-year-old child were sitting inside a car which was struck by gunfire, but neither were injured.

TPD says witnesses later began to search for the victim, who was a friend to some at the party, who was last seen running away from the business but was found in a wooded area on South Monroe Street.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) — The Tallahassee Police Department investigated a death near the 1900 block of South Monroe Street Tuesday morning.

At around 1:37 am, officers arrived to the area and found a dead body. Officers discovered the victim was shot before they died.

Public information officer Damon Miller says the body was found in between Baker's Place Plaza on South Adams Street and the building behind it on South Monroe Street.

Resident Krystal Green said she heard the gunshots and is upset there's been another shooting in the area.

The victim was 34-year-old Alex Harvey, his family confirmed to WCTV. Family members also told WCTV Harvey had just gotten off of work at midnight before he was killed. They say he was picked up to attend a birthday party in the area after his shift.

This case has been assigned to investigators with TPD's Violent Crimes Unit. Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact them.
