TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Two people are facing charges after a traffic stop in Tallahassee last week led to the discovery of drugs and a gun.

Around 9:30 p.m. on Valentine's Day, the Leon County Sheriff's Office's S.P.I.D.E.R. Unit pulled over a vehicle near the intersection of Capital Circle Southwest and Tram Road for an expired tag.

During the traffic stop, deputies noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The driver and passenger, 21-year-old Kaliyah Alexander and 24-year-old Dennis Nicholas, were asked to step out of the car as investigators conducted a search. The search revealed approximately 1/2 a pound of cannabis, a digital scale, clear baggies, over $1,000 in cash and a Glock .9mm semi-automatic gun.

LCSO says both Alexander and Nicholas admitted to possessing the cannabis and drug paraphernalia.

Alexander was arrested for possession of cannabis with intent to sell and drug paraphernalia. Nicholas was arrested for possession of cannabis with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Both suspects were booked into the Leon County Detention Facility but have since bonded out.
