Trees are being offered with thousand-dollar price tags in New York City. Manhattan vendor Soho Trees sold a single 20-foot tree for $6,500 this holiday season, which included delivery and installation, the New York Post reported.The high prices haven't turned customers away, though. Scott Lechner, sales manager at the tree stand, says they've already sold out.The cause of the prices this year? The Post cited a shortage on the popular Fraser fir. According to the National Christmas Tree Association, as cited by People, the trees take about 10 years to mature, so the 2008 recession has played a factor and growers limited the number of trees planted.Other places also offering $1,000-plus — but less costly — tree services include: Tyler's Trees is offering a 4-foot tree starting at $129, going up in size and price and leveling at around $1,499 for a 16-foot tree.
