Meet the Franklin, Massachusetts 14-year-old who gets to be Adam Schefter sidekick
Virtually every NFL fan know who Adam Schefter is.The NFL insider who works for ESPN is usually the first to report any sort of insider NFL news, sometimes before players are even aware of it. The longtime NFL reporter will have a Massachusetts teenager and aspiring sports broadcaster following him along the sidelines Monday night. Ryan Martin was the winner of an NFL contest, and will be Schefter's sidekick for the game between the New England Patriots and the New York Jets. "I got to have lunch with the great Adam Schefter, and I get to shadow him around the game," Martin told WCVB before Monday night's game. Martin already has more experience than most. He's broadcast several minor league baseball games and has attended broadcasting camp over the past few summers."I've wanted to be a sportscaster since I've been 9 years old," Martin said. He said watching the 1989 Super Bowl between the San Francisco 49ers and Cincinnati Bengals with legendary sports broadcaster Dick Enberg inspired him to pursue the future career. Martin said he's a big Patriots fan, and based on the video he submitted for the contest, he's clearly a big New England sports fan.
