Delaware State Police have arrested a woman in connection with the robbery of a local sporting goods store.

The incident occurred Saturday, February 16, 2019, at 1:38 p.m. when troopers were called to the Dick's on Center Boulevard for a report of a robbery in progress.

Kelli Collins, 43, of Newark originally tried to flee from police, but was taken into custody in the area of Mall Road and Fashion Center Boulevard, officers said.

Collins had entered the store and tried to leave with roughly $700 in merchandise before an employee approached her, said state police.

Collins reportedly struck the employee with the knife, numerous times.

She was found to have crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia on her person at the time of arrest and was charged with robbery, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and menacing, according to troopers.

She was later released on $21,500 bond.
