UPDATE: House considered total loss after fire

Firefighters say they got the call around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the home located along gain street.

Luckily, no one was inside.

"We were reported that that there could be a person possibly in the residence. We later confirmed upon arrival that the lady that owns the residence is not here," said Salem Fire Assistant Chief John Richmond.

Cell phone video shows the moment the fire sparked at the two story home. This left neighbors scrambling for safety.

"I ran outside, it started in the back and then it was gone in like 10 minutes," said Ashly Dolly.

Witnesses say an older woman lives at the home but feel a sense of relief she was not there at the time of the fire.

"I'm very glad she made it out safe and she wasn't there," said Dolly.

Crews are leaving the scene of a home in Salem that caught fire Wednesday morning.

The house on Main Street is considered a total loss. Officials say no one was inside at the time of the fire and no one was hurt.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

Fire departments from Salem, Bridgeport, Nutter Fort, Anmore and Spelter all responded. Salem and Harrison County EMS also were at the scene with Salem Police.

Multiple Harrison County crews are fighting their second structure fire in 12 hours.

The fire was reported on Main Street in Salem shortly before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday across from the IGA.

The Nutter Fort Fire Department reported possible entrapment.
