Morgantown streets to close this weekend for the West Virginia Birthday Party

A number of streets will be closed this weekend in Morgantown to celebrate West Virginia's birthday.

According to the Morgantown Police Department, the following streets will be closed downtown on Saturday, June 22.

High St. from Walnut St. to Pleasant St. from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Left lane of High St. from Wall St. to Walnut St. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Chancy Row and Court St. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

According to the release, parking will be restricted on the left side of High, Wall and Walnut Street. But, there will be ample parking in the two downtown parking garages.

The West Virginia Birthday Party takes place from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. on High Street.

West Virginia Day is June 20. It's a state holiday that marks the day the state was admitted to the Union back in 1863.
