A new walking and biking trail spanning 2 miles is coming to Bridgeport.

The city announced during their Monday meeting they received a $120,000 Transportation Alternative grant that will be used to help design the trail.

The trail will connect the city's new recreation complex to Compton Park and surrounding neighborhoods. The total cost of the project, including design, is $1.2 million.

City officials say the design process for the trail will start at the beginning of 2019. The trail will include rest areas, benches, and is hoped to have lighting throughout.

Bridgeport Mayor Andy Lang says this is just part of the city's plan to connect neighborhoods, and make Bridgeport a friendly place to live.
