One of Alaska's Pioneers Has Died at 93

One of Alaska's founders has died today.

Former Lieutenant Governor John 'Jack' Coghill died this morning at his home in North Pole.

He served as the Lieutenant Governor of Alaska between 1990 to 1994.

He also served many other roles in state politics, from being the mayor of Nenana, to being in the state legislature and was one of the signers of the constitution when Alaska became a state.

Coghill served in the military during World War II.

He died at the age of 93.

Alaska State Troopers say no foul play is suspected.

His son, John Coghill, followed in his father's footsteps and is currently representing North Pole in the state senate.

With Coghill's death, Victor Fischer of Anchorage is the last living delegate to sign the Alaska Constitution.
