WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Downtown Wilmington invites you to celebrate the Holly Jolly Holidays.

The event is a collaboration between 5 non-profit organizations to host and market holiday events and activities in Downtown.

A free event is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 8 at 12:30 p.m. to welcome Santa and Mrs. Claus to town. The two will arrive by boat to Riverfront Park. Children can visit with Santa under the pavilion. The Wilmington Police Department will hand out stockings filled with candy and other items for the first 200 children.

The Historic Wilmington Foundation will host a walking tour (rain or shine) leaving from Riverfront Park at 5:30 p.m. Visitors can stroll through downtown to view the outdoor light displays at homes.

The tour concludes with refreshments at the Latimer House. The tour is free but donations accepted.

The Holly Jolly event is in its fourth year.

Sylvia Kochler organized the event as a way to showcase what downtown Wilmington has to offer, from holiday theatrical shows, concerts, the tree lighting and more.
