Wilmington insurance agent accused of embezzling from clients

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Agents with the North Carolina Department of Insurance have charged a Wilmington insurance agent with embezzling thousands of dollars from his clients during an 18-month period.
According to a news release, Roy Payton Warren Jr., 69, was taken into custody by deputies with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office on Sept. 4 and charged with one count of felony embezzlement.
Warren, while working as a licensed insurance agent for Allstate Insurance Co., allegedly stole $15,093 from several victims between March 4, 2011 and Sept. 6, 2012.
Following his arrest in September, Warren was booked into the New Hanover County Jail under a $7,500 bond.
