16-year-old arrested in shooting of teen girl in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - A 16-year-old has been charged in the shooting of a 14-year-old girl in Wilmington.

According to Wilmington police, the suspect was arrested on Aug. 5. Police say they will not release his name because he is a juvenile.

Just before 11 p.m. on Aug. 1, Wilmington police responded to the intersection of S. 10th St. and Queen St. in reference to shots fired.

When they arrived, officers discovered a 14-year-old female victim lying on the ground. She was taken to NHRMC with non-life threatening injuries, according to WPD officials.
