WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - A fight between two men led to a stabbing in Wilmington Thursday afternoon.

According to a spokeswoman for the Wilmington Police Department, the incident happened just before 2 p.m. at the intersection of Seventh and Castle streets.

Witnesses told police that two men — Shamar Mitchell, 20, and Onyx Kennedy, 24 — got into an altercation and Mitchell ended up with minor cuts. By the time officers arrived, Kennedy had fled the scene.

Mitchell was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Both men were charged with affray (fighting) and released on citations.
