A 12-year-old boy was bitten by a shark Wednesday morning at a beach in South Florida. According to a report from NBC 6, the boy was bitten while swimming in Fort Lauderdale. His injuries are not considered serious.An official with the City of Ft. Lauderdale Fire Rescue said lifeguards were doing their morning physical training when they heard a “horrific scream” from the water. Officials found the boy bleeding from his right foot and he was treated for a minor puncture wound. Fire officials said the bite and the shark were both very small. The boy was taken to Broward Medical Center for treatment. Shark bites are more common in the summer when more people are in the water and ocean currents bring bait fish closer to shore.
