BRIGHTON, Colo. — A 16-year-old Colorado boy has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for fatally shooting a man while trying to steal an Xbox he had arranged to buy on Facebook.

Brigham Yahir Mendez was sentenced Friday in Brighton. He was charged as an adult in the 2018 shooting of 32-year-old Jacob Michael Clymer and pleaded guilty in October to second-degree murder.

Prosecutors say Mendez and a companion met Clymer and his wife to buy the gaming system for $250 but then said he could only pay $245.  After they left the couple briefly and then returned, prosecutors say Mendez pulled out a gun and shot Clymer repeatedly.
