HARTFORD, Conn. - Connecticut State Police say a fugitive college student wanted for two slayings in Connecticut has been captured in Maryland.

Peter Manfredonia had been the subject of a six-day search involving several police agencies and the FBI.
"Connecticut State Police detectives utilized social media technology and good old fashioned police work in order to track down the suspect," said Trooper First Class Christine Jeltema, Connecticut State Police.
Connecticut State Police say the 23-year-old University of Connecticut senior killed a 62-year-old man and wounded another in northeastern Connecticut on Friday before stealing guns and a truck.
Police say Manfredonia drove south to Derby, where he killed a high school classmate on Sunday, before abducting the man’s girlfriend and driving to New Jersey.
He then took an Uber to the Walmart in East Stroudsburg, and was captured on surveillance video Sunday walking along the railroad tracks behind the store, police said.
He stole an SUV from the Poconos, which was spotted in the Chambersburg area Wednesday, and used a ride-hailing service in Maryland, officials said.
He was taken into custody near a truck stop in Hagerstown, Maryland Wednesday night, said Connecticut State Police.
"A firearm was found in the proximity of the arrest, which was believed to be the weapon that was used in the Derby homicide," said Jeltema.
Police said no law enforcement personnel were injured.
Charges could include both state and federal offenses.
"The suspect will face justice and this will bring closure. This is what is important for the families of the victims, the victims, all of which have been notified of the arrest immediately after," Jeltema said.
A lawyer for Manfredonia's family says they are relieved the search ended peacefully.
Manfredonia is being held in Maryland pending extradition proceedings from Connecticut.
