Green Bay, WI-(Richmond Spiders)-The Green Bay Packers have had a great tradition of offensive lineman. A former Salem Spartan and Richmond Spider in Alex Light is looking to join the roll call of strong men in the trenches. Light’s football career is something people in the Roanoke Valley are proud of. The former Salem Spartan did his thing in high school which in turn lead him to a chance to play on the offensive line for the Richmond Spiders. Then last year light signed with the Green Bay Packers as an unrestricted free agent. Light’s hard work earned him a spot on the 53 man roster even seeing playing time. This season, light is in the running for a starting spot on the offensive line. He’s noticing his growth from his rookie season to now.

“I am fighting for the back up right tackle spot. That is my goal. I am trying to work with the older guys in Dave and Bryan. We are trying to develop them. In my technique and to create my own style of play from last year to this year. I think my confidence would be the biggest thing going for me. I feel way better on the field. This past Thursday when we played I felt calm and collected. I felt I belong out there,” said Green Bay Packer Offensive Lineman Alex Light.

Green Bay is the smallest market in the NFL
Light sees a lot of similarites between the passionate Packer fans and the passionate Salem football fans.

“When I first got here everyone was welcoming and they were super nice and the crowd they love their football. I think it was the first time we went to Cabellas with a few teammates. This one guy I was like you are blah, blah, blah and he was like we drafted this this and this. So they know their football here and coming from a small town like you said that is revolving around football. and the communities involved. I think that has really helped me and to creat a home up here,” said Light.

At the end of the day, he has a few words to live by in his drive to start for the Packers.

“A man just keep grinding and come together as one. If you do that anything is possible,” said Light.
