THIS IS A CHANGE IN THE ORIGINAL PLANS FOR THE YELLOW PHASE. THE GOVERNOR ANNOUNCED THAT RESTAURANTS AND BARS IN THE YELLOW WILL BE ABLE TO SERVE SEATED DINERS IF THEY HAVE OUTDOOR SEATING. THIS CHANGE GOES INTO EFFECT JUNE 5. UNTIL THEN, RESTAURANTS IN THE YELLOW ARE RESTRICTED TO JUST TAKE OUT AND DELIVERY. WHEN THAT CHANGE HAPPENS NEXT WEEK, WHEN THE ENTIRE STATE IS IN THE YELLOW OR GREEN, THERE ARE STILL SOME RESTRICTIONS ABOUT THE RESTAURANTS -- THAT THE RESTAURANTS IN THE YELLOW MUST FOLLOW. THEY STILL MUST HAVE 50% CAPACITY AND NO INDOOR SEATING. THEY CANNOT HAVE BUFFETS OR SALAD BARS. NO CONDIMENT TABLES AND NO REASONABLE MENUS. -- REUSABLE MENUS. THEY WILL BE ALLOWED TO HAVE SOME OUTDOOR SEATING. RESTAURANTS IN THE GREEN PHASE HAVE MORE FLEXIBILITY. THEY ARE ALLOWED TO HAVE INDOOR SEATING IF THE TABLES ARE SPACED OUT, SIX FEET APART OR IF THEY HAVE SOME KIND OF PHYSICAL BARRIER BETWEEN CUSTOMERS. I KNOW THIS CAN BE CONFUSING. As more Pennsylvania counties get ready to move into the yellow phase of reopening, WGAL took a closer look at what that means for restaurants.Starting Friday, most of the Susquehanna Valley will be in the yellow phase. Franklin, Dauphin and Lebanon counties will join Adams, Cumberland, Juniata, Mifflin and Perry counties which went yellow last Friday. Lancaster County will move to yellow next Friday, June 5.June 5 is also day when restaurants in the yellow phase will be able to do more than just serve takeout. Gov. Tom Wolf announced that restaurants will be permitted to serve seated diners if they have outdoor seating.Currently, yellow phase restaurants are still restricted to takeout and delivery.So, on June 5, when all of Pennsylvania is in the yellow or green phase, restaurants in the yellow will be able to open at 50% capacity, but indoor seating will still be prohibited. Buffets, salad bars, self-serve drinks, reusable menus and condiment tables are also prohibited.Green phase rulesRestaurants in the green phase have more flexibility.
