OUR MISSION IS ABOUT PROVIDING LEADERSHIP ESTABLISHING THE OUTCOMES THAT WE WANT FOR THIS SYSTEM FOR OUR UNIVERSITIES AND MORE IMPORTANTLY FOR OUR AND THE BOARD IS SEEKING A SMALLER SPACE TO CALL HOME AS IT TRIES TO REDUCE.

The Board of Governors for Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education voted Thursday to sell the Dixon University Center.The sale is the latest move to reduce costs as PASSHE grapples with declining enrollment and reduced state funding at its 14 universities.The complex on North Second Street in Harrisburg is home to the system's Office of the Chancellor.The building also has classroom and meeting space, which is being underutilized during the COVID-19 pandemic, board members said."We are looking for savings everywhere we can find savings. Our mission is not about buildings. Our mission is not about physical assets. Our mission is about providing leadership, establishing the outcomes that we want for this system, for our universities and more importantly for our students," board chairwoman Cynthia Shapira said.The Board of Governors is seeking a smaller space to call home as it tries to reduce its physical footprint.
