Estranged husband of missing Connecticut mom in critical condition after apparent suicide attempt
Fotis Dulos, the estranged husband of a missing Connecticut mother, is clinging to life and is expected to be flown to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.
Dulos, 52, is in critical condition after he was found unresponsive inside of a running car in his garage at 4 Jefferson Crossing in Farmington on Tuesday.
Police believe Dulos, his former girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, 45, and his close friend and former lawyer, Kent Mawhinney, 54, allegedly conspired to kill Jennifer Dulos and clean up the crime.
Fotis Dulos was initially reported dead from an apparent suicide.
Farmington police found Fotis Dulos during a welfare check after he didn’t show up for his bond hearing, according to State’s Attorney Richard Colangelo.
Attorney Norm Pattis, who represents Fotis Dulos, said his client was found with a pulse but could not breathe on his own. Paramedics performed CPR at the scene, but he was later taken to the UConn medical center.
He is reportedly being kept alive on life support, according to sources.
On Tuesday, an emergency hearing was slated to occur in which a judge could have revoked Fotis Dulos’ $6 million bond.
Fotis Dulos, 52, was arrested Jan. 7 on murder and kidnapping charges in connection with what authorities say was the killing of Jennifer Dulos, who hasn't been seen since she dropped her five children off at their school May 24.
He had denied any involvement in the disappearance of Jennifer Dulos and pleaded not guilty earlier this month to murder and kidnapping charges.
Police allege Fotis Dulos lay in wait at Jennifer Dulos' home in New Canaan for her to return after dropping the children off at school in May. Authorities say Fotis Dulos attacked the woman in her garage, leaving behind a bloody crime scene, and drove off with her body, which has not been found.
Officials say surveillance video cameras recorded Fotis Dulos disposing of items containing Jennifer Dulos' blood in Hartford.
The five children, who ranged in age from 8 to 13 when their mother vanished, have been staying with their maternal grandmother in New York City.
