An Amtrak train on its way from Washington, D.C. to Chicago made an unscheduled three-and-a-half hour stop Monday evening after hitting a truck in West Virginia.

According to an Amtrak spokesperson, the crash happened in Ranson around 5:35 p.m.

A tractor trailer stalled on the tracks at Charles Town Road and Luther Jones Road, but the oncoming train had no time to stop.

The driver jumped out of the vehicle just before the train smashed into it.

He was uninjured, and so were all 108 passengers and crew members on the train.

Witnesses said the driver was shaken, but other than that, alright.

By 8:15 p.m., the scene had been cleared and the engine of the train replaced, and the train set off again on its journey.
