Newport County v West Ham United Carabao Cup tie to be televised

Carabao Cup

West Ham United's Carabao Cup second-round tie at Newport County will be broadcast live in the UK by Sky Sports.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side will visit the EFL League Two outfit's Rodney Parade on Tuesday 27 August, with kick-off at 7.45pm.

The second-round draw handed the Hammers a tie against the Exiles after the South Wales club beat Gillingham on penalties in the first round on Tuesday evening, securing the victory over the Gills with a 4-1 shootout win after a 2-2 draw in 90 minutes.

The clubs have played each other three times in their history, each winning once and drawing the other fixture. The last meeting was back in January 1979, when then-Fourth Division Newport prevailed 2-1 in an FA Cup third-round tie at Somerton Park.

West Ham reached the last-16 stage of the Carabao Cup last season, eventually losing 3-1 to Tottenham Hotspur after defeating AFC Wimbledon and Macclesfield Town.

Ticket details for the tie will be confirmed in due course.
