It was the perfect day to be outside enjoying the nice weather, and that's exactly what the community of Topeka did at the annual Easterfest.

The family friendly event was held at Garfield Park in downtown Topeka.

Topeka's Christian Chamber of Commerce puts Easterfest on each year as a way for people to celebrate the holiday, and enjoy some family time.

Lee Hartman, President of the Capital City Christian Chamber of Commerce, said, "It's all about celebrating family, celebrating the Resurrection, and celebrating Easter. There's no better time to have a family friendly event than Easter."

Everything kicked off with a parade, followed by a community Easter egg hunt, and wrapped up with a fun fair.

The 2019 event had over 70 vendors, and there was no shortage of activities for kids and adults to participate in. They had a petting zoo, Easter crafts and games, face painting, scavenger hunts, bubble soccer, bounce houses, and live performances.

Cammie Boberg and her family attended Easterfest for the third year in a row, and says they always have a great time. Boberg also talked about why Easter is so important to her family. "We do everything together on Easter, we all color the eggs together, we all cook together, its just very family-oriented."

This was the 7th annual Easterfest and the Capital City Christian Chamber of Congress says it continues to be a success each year.
