Downtown Topeka Inc continued the summer concert series with Rock and Food Trucks Saturday.

Sean Knittle brought his daughter to the event to help introduce her to rock music.

"It's free music, and I love music,” Knittle said. “I’m a drummer myself and just getting her involved in music I think is awesome.”

On top of that, he said such a large community event helps the revitalization of downtown.

"It's a community event. It's everybody coming together. It's a great thing for the whole community to be involved with,” Knittle said. “Just great people and just building a great Topeka community which is awesome."

CEO of Downtown Topeka Inc Vince Frye said the plan is to see events like Rock and Food Trucks, and the rest of the concert series, move over to the Evergy Plaza when it opens.

“Evergy Plaza will be ready March of 2020 and we'll be programming over 250 days a year,” Frye said. “This is unusual, but these types of things could happen at the Evergy Plaza."

If you missed out on Rock and Food Trucks, Jazz and Food Trucks will be coming in September.
