Construction on a popular South Topeka exit will not start for another month, avoiding an added traffic tie-up for Country Stampede.

Shawnee Co. Public Works Director Curt Niehaus told commissioners Thursday morning construction onto SW Gary Ormsby Drive from Highway 75 will be delayed four week.

He say they initially planned a two week delay when it was announced Country Stampede was moving from Tuttle Creek to Heartland Park. That would have put it at June 24th, but the contractors told Niehaus their supplier couldn't accommodate that date.

"It will start July 8th and complete no later than August 9th," Niehaus said. "This schedule is becoming extremely important because school starts very soon after August 9th."

Niehaus also said they completed construction Wednesday on SE 45th from Croco Road to Tecumseh.
