Forge has released three designs that will be put up to a vote to be the newest symbol to represent Topeka.

Topekans will get to be the ones who chose which one of these flags will be flown around the capital city.

"We're proud of our city,” Brittany Crabtree, a volunteer who helped with the flags, said. “A lot of change is happening and its time that we have a symbol that we can hang that says, 'This is us.'”

The themes are similar between all three. They include blue to represent the state flag and a sunflower to represent being the capital of the sunflower state.

"They're all kind of a similar color feel and I think it’s a much updated design,” Nick Xidis, a Topekan said. “Certainly something that is appropriate to update it with something that's a little more modern feel.”

Forge has also looked at marketing the new flag and printing it on merchandise.

But no one will own the flag. Meaning anyone can use it and print in on products.

"It’s the people's flag,” Lindsay Lebahn, Executive Director of Forge, said. “They were in it on every process and so we really want to make sure that if someone wants to print a visor, they've got a visor. We don’t want to hinder them”

Lebahn said they are working with local businesses to have in their store fronts for easy access.

You can vote by going to

or texting your choice of A, B or C to (785) 425-4393.

Voting ends at midnight on April 9th.
