KDOT announces 2019 road projects for Topeka

The Kansas Department of Transportation has released their project list for the upcoming road work season for the Topeka Metro.

According to the state agency, several of the State’s paving project for Topeka will finish up this year.

“The good news is we have several large paving projects wrapping up this year that will improve the drive for our Topeka drivers. New surfaces mean smoother commutes long term drivers will have fewer disruptions because we have a number of years of quality surface to look forward to,” said KDOT spokesperson Laurie A. Arellano

Here is a full list of projects:

• Pave West bound lanes of I-470 from I-70 to Burlingame Bridge, night and weekend lane closures

• Pave US-24 from just east of Menoken then east, daily lane closures

• Pave US-75 from 62nd rd to 158th rd northbound lanes, daily lane closures (also carryover from last year)

• US-75 over the turnpike, northbound, bridge repair, reduced to one lane of traffic throughout project, beginning of March starting

• I-470/I-70 westbound bridge, bridge repair, closed to traffic weekends only, starting end of June or later

• US-75 bridge over Wakarusa River both bridges, bridge repairs, one lane each direction throughout project, beginning end of May or later

• I-470 both directions, guard fence replacement, night and weekend lane closures, mid to end of May starting

• US-75 bridge over I-70 westbound, bridge repair, closed to traffic weekends only, starting end of June or later

• Urish Road over I-70, Bridge repair, one lane of traffic with traffic signals, starting end of June or later

• EB I-70 ramp at Gage, part of city of Topeka project, HMA overlay and curbs, starting end of June or later

• Pave US-40 from K-4 to SN/DG County line, daily lane closures
