Topeka man dead after central Topeka shooting

A 34-year-old Topeka man died following a Saturday night shooting in central Topeka, according to the Topeka Police Dept.
Darton A. Fields II was suffering from a single gunshot wound when officers found him around 9:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of SW Huntoon, investigators say.
Bystanders were trying to help him as emergency crews arrived and rushed Fields to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries, they continued.
TPD says they are still searching for the suspect, and anyone with information is asked to call 785-368-9551.
