A Topeka woman was hurt and a man was sent to jail Friday night following a stabbing at a Northwest Topeka apartment complex last night.

Topeka Police were called to the 100 block of NW Redbud Circle at approximately 5:25 p.m., Friday on reports of a battery. When they arrived they found a woman with a non-life threatening stab wound.

Authorities say a suspect was located inside an apartment but refused to come out. Several apartments were evacuated as a precaution.

The person inside eventually came out without incident. He was taken to the Law Enforcement Center for questioning.

The suspect was later identified as Christopher Dean Gustin, 28, of Topeka.

He was arrested and taken to the Shawnee County Jail on charges of Attempted Murder, Aggravated Kidnapping and Aggravated Endangerment of a child.
