A 28-year-old man is facing multiple charges after a Topeka Police officer found him passed out in a car early Wednesday morning.

According to the Topeka Police Dept., officers responded around 3:15 a.m. to an area near SE 27th St. and Colorado Ave. on a report that a vehicle had been sitting in the road for more than an hour.

There, they reportedly found Akeem Miller passed out with a handgun in plain sight to the officer. He was taken into custody without incident, police said.

Miller was booked into the Shawnee Co. jail on multiple counts, including possession of a firearm, DUI, possession of stolen property, and open container. He is being held without bond.

TPD noted his arrest is the 36th for felon in possession of a firearm reported by the Department since the beginning of the year.
