Professional truck drivers from across Kansas demonstrated their skills on Saturday at the truck driving championships in Topeka.

74 of the state's best drivers took on a course of six challenges.

Drivers were scored after completing each problem.

The challenges test their professional skills in driving, and also safety skills.

Each driver that competed has over two million safe miles, and at least 24 years of experience.

Director of Safety for Kansas Motor Carriers Association, Kay Hendrix said, "We all have pride in what we do and these drivers are all professional in that aspect, they love what they do, and safety is a huge part of that."

The awards banquet is Saturday night at 7 p.m.

The winners from each category will travel to Pittsburgh for the National competition in August.
