1 man dead following Sunday morning shooting in Central Topeka

A man has died after being shot in Central Topeka.

Topeka Police were called to the shooting in 1100 block of SW Polk around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

When they arrived on scene, they found the man suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries.

The scene extended from the parking lot of Cherrywood apartments, into the street and into the parking lot of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas.

Markers were placed in the center of Polk Street indicating shell casings.

Information about the victim has not been provided.
