A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting earlier this week outside a south Topeka bar.

According to the Topeka Police Dept., Damien S. Arterberry-Riley was booked into the Shawnee Co. Jail Thursday on a single count of aggravated battery. He is being held without bond.

Arterberry-Riley is accused of shooting Damario Brooks early Tuesday morning near Abigail's Grill and Bar, 3701 SW Plaza Dr. When officers arrived, around 1:30 a.m., they found several shell casings and discarded firearms in the parking lot and on a nearby street.

Brooks, 34, had already left the scene. He showed up later at a local hospital, suffering from a gunshot wound. Police said that day he was in critical condition, but is expected to survive.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Police say there were multiple witnesses to the shooting and they are asking anyone with information about it to call their Criminal Investigation Bureau at 785-368-9400 or Crime Stoppers at 785-234-0007.
