A standoff in Central Topeka has ended, three hours after Topeka Police say a man barricaded himself inside a home and refused to come out.

TPD Lt. Andrew Beightel says the man, later identified as Bobby Dee Slocum,32, came out around 8 p.m. Tuesday and was taken into custody without further incident.

The incident began around 5 p.m. in the 700 block of SW College Ave. Beightel told 13 NEWS a man to whom they wanted to speak about a case refused to come out of a home.

Around 6:15 p.m., a 13 NEWS crew at the scene observed a woman and three children come out of the home.

Beightel said Slocum claimed he had weapon, but officers had not actually seen any as yet.

He also did not provide information on the type of case they were investigating.

TPD asked people to avoid the area while they responded. The house was located near the University of Kansas Hospital - St. Francis Campus, but a hospital spokesperson was not aware of any added precautions they were advised to take.

Beightel said Slocum faces multiple charges, including Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated intimidation of a witness, Aggravated endangerment of a child, and interference with a Law Enforcement Officer.
