Police are investigating a stabbing in which a woman was injured early Thursday at an apartment complex in central Topeka.

The incident was reported around 6:33 a.m. at the College Villas apartment complex at 1414 S.W. Byron. The location is just northeasat of the Washburn University campus.

Police at the scene told 13 NEWS that responding officers found a woman suffering from a stab wound at the apartment complex.

The woman was treated at the scene by American Medical Response ambulance personnel before she was transported to a Topeka hospital.

Police said the woman's injuries weren't believed to be life-threatening.

Police at the scene said the assailant was known to the woman.

No arrests had been reported as of 9 a.m.

The Topeka Police Department's Crime Scene Investigation Unit was called to the scene.

Police could be seen going into a second-floor apartment in the eastern-most of four buildings at the College Villas complex.
