The Topeka Police Department now has a bigger presence downtown.

Topeka Police and Topeka Metro will host a ribbon cutting Thursday morning for TPD's new downtown Community Police Office. It's inside the Metro's Quincy Station.

Police Chief Bill Cochran says TPD has expanded its community police program. The central location helps officers build relationships with the public as well as businesses. He says the office is in addition to the Help Center in the Capitol Federal parking garage that's staffed during special events.
