The Topeka zoo celebrates a tigerrific first birthday inviting the community to spend a day at the zoo on Saturday.

The Topeka's Sumatran tiger cubs turn one year old this weekend. The extremely rare cubs birthday is a very special occasion for the zoo.

Activities began this morning at the zoo and ended with a behind the scenes tour of the tiger building.

The community had the chance to step up close and see how they live outside the zoo.

"Window was packed at this morning for their birthday party," Animal Care Supervisor, Shanna Simpson says. "The community support we have here, for us, and for our animals at the zoo is just so amazing. There were a lot of great people here today with so many great questions, even the little kids were really excited to be here."

Also commemorating the occasion the Blind Tiger Brewery & Restaurant team are donating money to the Tiger Conservation Campaign, every time you order a drink or food item.

The special runs until Tuesday.
