Two men have been arrested after rummaging through a house and hiding from police Sunday morning.

The Shawnee County Sheriff's Office says Vincent Renyer, 42, and Travis Russell, 35, both of Topeka, were booked in the Shawnee Co. Dept. of Corrections on burglary, theft, and criminal damage charges.

Sheriff Brian Hill says deputies were dispatched to the 3100 block of SE 45th St. around 1 a.m. Sunday on a report of a suspicious vehicle at a house.

When deputies arrived, they found an empty white Cadillac Escalade parked in the bushes. After investigating more, deputies found a man on the property and detained him. With the help of the Topeka Police K-9 unit, deputies found another man hiding in a room in the house.

The Sheriff's Office says the house had been fully rummaged through with items missing and other items piled up.

Officials say the incident is still under investigation.
