The Topeka Rescue Mission is getting some monetary help from two Topeka restaurants to prevent them from closing their doors because of a cash shortage.

This Sunday, August 25th, The Pennant and Iron Rail restaurants are promising to donate 30 percent of all their revenue that day to the Rescue Mission.

"Then also our ownership will be matching that donation 100 percent,” Marketing Director for the restaurants Austin Neher said.

Because if the Rescue Mission closes, people like Robin Wolfe would be left with no place to stay.

"When I was at a local grocery store and they knew that I didn't have anywhere to go, the people of the community actually knew where to bring me,” Wolfe said. “So that was God in itself, and a blessing, because without the outreach here and the ministry here, I wouldn't be here today."

She's been at the Rescue Mission for three weeks now and says she's on her way to recovery after struggling with a reoccurring bout of addiction, thanks to their help.

"There's plenty of different opportunities for people that come in with nothing,” She explained. “They give them a place to sleep, food in their belly, and they also give them hope that they aren't nobody, that they are somebody."

The fundraiser lasts all day for both restaurants, and if you can't make it out Sunday there are other options for you. You can visit their Facebook pages at the Pennant Topeka or Iron Rail Brewing for a link to donate. They also have a QR code they’ve made available on flyers and online that people can snap on their phone and it takes them directly to TRM.org.
