St. Paul Lutheran group opens up mission church

A group of former members from St. Paul Lutheran Church come together to open a mission church.

Volunteers gathered at the 114-year-old sanctuary Friday. The church is located in the 600 block of North Horsman Street.

To prepare for their first service, teachers from St. Paul's school and Rockford Lutheran school will also be involved. Lowes Eggert, a member of the church, hopes to bring the community closer with the services.

The mission church will hold its first service on Sunday, Aug. 25 at 9 a.m.
