The Fourth of July is about two weeks and away, and as a reminder, there are new regulations when it comes to using fireworks in the state of Michigan affecting when and what time of the day you can set them off.

AE Superstore said these regulations were a collaborative effort between state legislature, the fire marshalls office and others in the industry to create a safer experience for buyers and users.

A majority of the restrictions are just during certain times that you can set them off so that you are not disturbing those who work or need to get to bed early.

Since the Fourth of July is on a Thursday, you have to stop setting them off by 11:45 p.m.

"You can shoot Friday even if there's an ordinance in place until 11:45 p.m., you can shoot until 11:45 any one of those days. But again, that's just if there's an ordinance in your area. If there's not, you can shoot any of those days," Brad White, General Manager of AE Superstore, said.

Local government may not restrict the use of fireworks during the following times and days:

Dec. 31 from 11 a.m. until 1 a.m. on Jan. 1

The Saturday and Sunday immediately preceding Memorial Day from 11 a.m. until 11:45 p.m.

June 29 to July 4 from 11 a.m. until 11:45 p.m.

July 5, if that date is a Friday or Saturday, from 11 a.m. until 11:45 p.m.

The Saturday and Sunday immediately preceding Labor Day from 11 a.m. until 11:45 p.m.
