Two dogs

have been reunited with their owners.

In a Facebook post, the couple said late Wednesday the dogs were reunited with them after days of someone reportedly wanting $20,000 in exchange for their safe return.

They recovered the dogs about 11:30 p.m. in the Churchill Downs Neighborhood.

The person, who has not been identified, reportedly left them in a yard of a fenced up abandoned home and told the owners where to find them.

"Thank you for all your shares and support," the post said.

It's unclear if the person who took them will face any charges.

When the dogs went missing on Sunday afternoon, the owners said they were told by a neighbor that two men were seen walking the dogs in the area.

The owners offered a reward for their safe return.

NEWS 10 spoke with Danielle Hull who owns the dogs.

She said that the two dogs, Miss Lansing (the black one) and MrDew (the tan one) just welcomed a litter of puppies, and the mom is still weaning the pups.

The dogs are "exotic micro-mini bullies," which according to Hull, is a type of pit bull.

MrDew weighs 60 lbs. and Miss Lansing comes in at 50 pounds.

The dogs stand less than a foot tall and are typically sold for more than $1,000 each.

This pair are show dogs.

Hull said she thinks the person or persons that took the dogs saw NEWS 10's report or heard about it and the reward money and reached out to the owners on Monday, January 13.

She says she got a text that day saying he would turn the dogs in for the reward.

Hull also said that police received a tip about who had the dogs and got in touch with the owners.

She added that the "dog stealer" got impatient with her because the reward money wasn't coming and gave up, directing her to how to find the dogs.

Lansing Police told News 10 that anyone can file a police report on anything that is confirmed stolen, including dogs.
