Warming centers ready for the cold in Lansing
As of Jan. 28, warming centers have been activated in Lansing.
The Lansing office of emergency management put in to play the warming centers when they learned of the extreme cold coming to mid-Michigan on Wednesday.
Warming centers are especially important for seniors and people with chronic health conditions.
They allow folks to get out of the cold, warm up, maybe get a snack or a meal, and then head back home.
They are considered "temporary day-time shelters."
